Tam And Dex

Dex had made plans to meet the twins in Atlantis for a slice of mallowmelt but when he arrived it was just Tam waiting for him at the gate. 

Tam lied to Dex just to make him come so they could talk. 

“I hope you know why it’s just me here.” Tam said when they sat down at a table.

“Yeah.” Dex says awkwardly. 

“Good” Tam smiles at his uneasiness, “Just so you know, you need to be  a responsible man if you have a chance to stay with my sister.”

Dex stares at Tam, “I can’t believe you’re dating Biana.”

He shakes his head “Neither can I.”

 3 girls sit at the table next to them. One has long black hair, the other 2 are a brunette and a blonde. They start talking about whatever.

“So…………………… your basically just talking about how I need to be myself.” Dex said eyeing the girls. He leaned over and whispered, “Don't they look familiar?”

Tam looked over there were only 2 girls at the table now. Where did the 3rd one go? He looked around. 

“Not really.” he said. 

“That's because we don't look the same,” a voice said. 

Biana appeared in the empty seat and Linh and Sophie turned around.

“We decided to eavesdrop.” Linh said.

Dex stared at them. Something was off. Something was really off.

Then it hit him.

“WAIT! YOU DYED YOUR HAIR!” He was surprised.

Sophie had a light purple streak in the front of her hair and at the bottom was the same shade. Biana had made her hair look like flames. She had bright orange in her hair. But Linh hadn't done anything.  

“I wasn't sure if you would get mad at me.” She said to Tam.

“Oh, go have fun.” He says.

“Oh, I’m perfectly comfortable where I am.”

Biana slid into the empty seat next to Tam. Linh sat next to Dex, Tam narrowed his silver eyes. Sophie sat down on the other side of Dex.

“You were saying?”  Biana said tossing her hair flirtily and winking at Tam 

Tam smiled softly and gently tugged on Biana’s hair before regaining his composure and glaring at Dex again.

“You make my sister cry, well we will see who will be crying harder when I’m done with you.”

Dex squirmed in his seat and Sophie jokingly punched him in the arm Lhin however rolled her eyes 

“Now that you are doing terrorizing my boyfriend.” she said emphasizing the last word.

“May I have him back now?” 

Tam scowled but didn’t say anything.

Dex whispered a quick thank you to Lhin and jumped up.

As they were walking out of the shop Dex grabbed Linh’s hand.

This made Tam stand up slightly, but Biana hauled him back down.

Sophie just tagged along behind everyone.  And Linh got the feeling she felt left out.

“So where's your boyfriend today?” she asked 

Sophie smiled, “Oh you know. Getting on peoples nerves, pulling pranks, making me very angry.” she shrugged, “The usual.”

“Really?” Dex asked. 

Sophie nods. 

“Is that why he's not here?” Tam asks

“No he…… yeah I guess”  Sophie thinks about it. 

“What did he do?” Biana asked 

Sophie starts laughing, “Well, he was talking about getting a job here in Atlantis and Grady was like, ‘You don't need to go to Atlantis to get a job. You can give Verdi a bath.’ And then he was like ‘But isn't that Foster’s job?’ and I  was like, ‘Well it doesn't have to be if you would just suck it up and do it!’ and then he was like, ‘Wow Foster calm down. Are you OK?’ And I was kinda having a bad day so I was grumpy. . . and yeah. . . .” 

Linh and Biana look at Sophie and it was like they could read minds. They all shared that look that meant something to girls. And the look that means nothing to boys.  

Tam looked behind him, “We are being followed by  people who are giving me the creeps.”

Sophie looked around to see who Tam was talking about and gasped. Not because she could see their faces, but because she couldn't

She leaned in next to Tam and whispered.     

“Take Dex and Lhin and hide them with your shadows down the alley and circle back to the shop on the right.”

“What about Biana?” He whispered anxiously.

“She’ll hide with me, I’ll meet you there in 5 minutes then she slipped of her glove and grabbed Biana’s hand and then with a gasp they both disappeared.

Tam nodded and started walking down the alley Sophie dragged Biana along the opposite alley after she was sure that they hadn’t seen her.

“What is it?” Bianna asked 

“Shh I’ll tell you when we get inside.”
A moment later they slipped inside a brightly colored shop and smacked right into Keefe, who was standing with Fitz.

They shoved him aside and he let out a gasp.

“Sophie??” he said when they reappeared, “What is it?” 

“The Neverseen are right outside.”
His face completely drained of color and then the door burst open, which caused him to jump in front of Sophie.

The door quickly slammed shut revealing Tam, Lhin, and Dex ….    

“Everyone be quiet!” Sophie whisper hissed when she saw their shadows closeby. 

They all seemed to be holding their breath, and while they waited, everyone in the shop stared at them. But they didn't care they just prayed that the monsters that were hunting them were gone. 

Everyone hold on to Biana. I'm going to enhance her and we can hopefully get out of here without a visit to the healing center. Sophie transmitted to everyone.

They all reached for Biana and just like that there was nobody there. They opened the door and ran out quickly the Neverseen were waiting for them.

“Really Sophie. You need to be more careful next time” A voice that was sickenly familiar came out of one of the black capes

Nobody said anything.

“Oh come on. I know you’re there” 

A hand reached out of another cloak and tried to fry them. That blew their cover. 

They all jumped in different directions making everyone but Biana visible.

“Don't you remember the last time we fought in Atlantis?” Sophie asked. 

“Oh yes, I do. I will never forget it.” Lady Gisela says pulling back her hood.

Inside Sophie's mind her head was screaming “what do I do? What do I do? What do I do?” Over and over again.

“What do you want?” Keefe said his voice breaking.

“I think you know who I want.”

Lady Gislea  said coldly 

“Fine.” Keefe said 

.

“If I come with you do you promise to leave Soph-everyone alone?”

“Not you, your sister, Marella.”

“You’ve proved not to matter.” He clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white.

She laughed, “This isn’t the Keefe show. You joined, then ran away. Besides, ‘I’m just your evil mother.’” She did a shocking imitation of his voice.

One tear slipped down Keefe’s nose and Sophie stood closer to him grabbing his hand.

His mother scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Honestly, you still need someone to hold your hand. Now, Where’s. Your. Sister? If you don’t answer, well, you Vanisher’s messed up. Kidnapping Sophie didn’t work out, but, your Hydrokinetic. . .”

Tam clenched his fists.

“Oooh, I think I made the right choice. Now, do I get the Hydrokinetic, or the Pyrokinetic. I’m warning you Keefe, I will get what I want.”

“Let us talk it over.” Linh said.

“What are you doing?” Biana squeaked. “We’ll hail Marella, tell her what’s going on, then tell Lady Gisela she’s at her house.”

“That won’t work.” Linh said. “But I’ll escape.”

“NO!” Keefe told her “You can’t go. I’ve done the exact same thing, it won’t work.”

“Oh, but you’re wrong, you joined for yourself, I’m doing it for my friends.” She hugged him, then Fitz, then Sophie, then Biana, the Tam, she clung to him a minute longer, then, finally, she kissed Dex, and walked over to Lady Gisela, who had been watching it all with a satisfied face. She grabbed Linh and said, 

“Now I get Linh and Marella.” she laughed and leaped away with Linh before anyone could react.  

Tam slumped down looking defeated and Keefe kicked the ground looking murderous .

“I can’t believe we even fell for any of her filthy tricks!”

Keefe stopped kicking the ground and started pulling his hair!!!

This worried Sophie even more than a foot injury.

 She stooped down next to Keefe who was sitting  on the ground and whispered, 

“Don’t worry, we’ll get them back.”

Bianna was trying to consol Tam as he sat there glaring at the place Lady Gisela had left one tear slipping down his face ignoring everybody Dex and Fitz both let themselves sit down. There was no one to make them feel better. After 10 minutes Sophie and Bianna coaxed the boys out of the street and just in time because a large carriage rushed down the street and whipped away the last of the footprints on the street hiding  any proof that she had ever been there except for four very broken boys.

“We should leave to get them. Right now!” Tam lectured. Biana stood up and placed a hand on his shoulder, he paused to give her a watery smile before turning to face Mr. Forkle. Fitz and Dex nodded their agreement. 

Mr. Forkle sighed. “You kids are so impatient.”

“ WE WOULDN'T BE IMPATIENT IF YOU WILL ACTUALLY LET US IN ON THINGS!” Sophie yelled.

“And just so you know, I know who my real parents are.” She added with no trace of guilt. Just anger, angry because she let her friend go without putting up a fight, angry  because she hated Me. Forkle because his comments.

“You are so. . . . . . . ARGH! I hate you! Okay! I HATE YOU! Do I need to tell you why?” She asked him

His silence was answer enough. Everyone was surprised at how angry Sophie had gotten. Nobody had seen her yell at Mr. Forkle. any adults. So this was a big surprise. 

The rest of the collective shows up behind him. Sophie walks up to Mr. Forkle.

“I hate you because you never tell us what we need to know WHEN we need it. You always wait till its too late to tell us. And you think that makes it ALL BETTER but news flash IT DOESN'T! Heck we broke the law millions of times for your stupid little club” she walks over to discized Juline, “I also really hate you and Lord Cassius. I think that speaks for itself, don't you?”

Everyone's  jaw drops. But Sophie ignores them.

“I hope what I told you guys will actually HELP in bad situations. I HOPE that you guys will actually do SOMETHING when we need you. AND I HOPE that all of you cowards, too afraid to show your actual faces, too afraid to tell us what we need to know when we need to know it. “ And with that she leaped home.

Fanfiction with friends part 2

While they think about it Sophie realizes another thing. No matter what, Keefe is always the first person to talk to.

“ Magnate Leto said he would tell me when I’m 17. So that means either way we are siblings. But they don’t know I did that so we can pretend that nothing ever happened.” Sophie told him 

They talked for a few more minutes and then he decided that it was way too late and needed to go. 

Chapter 6

Fitz-Keefe

At Foxfire everyone was talking about some dumb light show.  When he joined his group Linh was dying of laughter on the ground because of something Biana said.

“Wow, that was funny.” Linh said when she stopped her giggles. 

“Totally!” Sophie agreed. Fitz gazed at her, she really was beautiful, he had brought her to the Lost Cities, just to lose her to Keefe, Keefe was his best friend, he had loved Sophie. He just didn’t understand what she saw in him, it was her decision, but he wished it had worked out differently.  

He decided to read her mind  maybe if he could figure out what the heck she was thinking he looked at her hands clasped with Keefe’s and nodded, he had to do this.  But what surprised him was the first picture in her mind was not that of Keefe it was of Juline and Lord Cassius.

He smiled a little, this changed everything. 

Sophie’s hand tightened on Keefe’s and she turned around with tears in her eyes and transmitted

“Get out Fitz”  

With that she got up an ran away. Keefe shot Fitz a questioning look and Fitz shrugged looking innocent. 

Keeefe got up and chased her and found her in the white hallway were they first met, her curled up on the bench crying. He reached over and took her shoulder gently making her sit up he sat down next to her and she put her head  on his shoulder and whispered 

“He knows.” 

With those two word’s Keefe’s  whole face darkened. That was unacceptable, his girlfriend, or his sister he didn’t care.

He bent his head down a gently kissed Sophie on the cheek, after a few minutes she somehow fell asleep. He leaped her home and when she woke up in her bed she found Keefe sitting on her window seat looking out her window she found Sandor glowering at him but was surprised.

“Grady let you in here?” She asked 

“Yeah I slept down stairs and woke up this morning. I told Grady what Fitz did and Fitz is now That   Boy.”

Sophie laughed.

Keefe sat down next to her and kissed her gently on the top of her head.“I’ll let you get changed.” Keefe said as he let the room and he shut the door.

As soon as she finished, she heard a knock on the door. She called “Come in!” And sat on the bed. Fitz walked in.

“I apologized to Keefe, and so he let me sneak up here. He’s distracting your bodyguards and Grady for me. And, I’m really, really, REALLY sorry. I shouldn’t have done that, it was uncalled for, against the Telepathy rules, and you should probably tell my dad and the Council.”

Sophie rolled her eyes 

“Oh really?” she let out a sarcastic laugh Fitz looked hurt

“I brought you these.” He said and from behind his back he pulled out a small plate with chocolate mint ripple fluffs.

“Peace offering; friends?” “Friends.” said Sophie and gave him a hug.

He hugged her back and they stood there like that for a minute before they broke apart.

And with that he leaped home

Sophie walked out of her room looking slightly dazed  and went downstairs.

“Keefe is outside.” Grady grunted but under that grunt he looked… slightly pleased.

Keefe was sitting under the Panakes tree. (You know where I’m going with this!) 

His hands shaking Sophie sat down next to him and squeezed his shoulder.

“What's wrong?”“He handed her a small slip of paper and on the paper was written.

Hail your mother.

 Keefe looked up with tears in his ice blue eyes.

And whispered 

“Why?” 

Sophie shrugged and gave him a quick hug before he could pull his imparter out of his cape, he pulled out a small dagger and cut the tip of his finger and smeared it on his imparter he turned his head away but Sophie saw one tear slip down his nose. Before the cold voice of Lady Gisela came out of his imparter.

“Well happy birthday Keefe.”
Sophie squeezed his hand as guilt swelled up how could she have forgotten?

“I regret ever picking you up off the stinking street. Why are you blubbering?”“What?”

“Your father didn’t tell you? We agreed to tell you on your 15h birthday; you're adopted.”

Keefe laughed and looked at Sophie.

“Is that all?” he asked.

“Not all” Lady Gisela snapped

“Well?” 

“You have a sister”

“Who?” 

“Marella.” 

She said. And then she hung up. 

Keefe jumped up and actually screamed. That scared the heck out of Sophie.

“Hey its not that bad.” Sophie told Keefe

“I  don't want to be Marella's brother!” 

Keefe was unprepared for Sophie's kiss. But hey, it's a kiss.    

“I’m sorry I forgot your birthday.” Sophie apologized after it

Keefe smiled, “That's OK Foster. It's just nice to have you.”

At Everglen Fitz was telling his dad about what he did. It was the first time in his life he ever broke the rules of telepathy. He was actually kinda scared, and really angry at himself he did that. 

Alden sighed, “Teenage  romance.” 

“I’m sorry, Dad.”

Sophie and I are cognates. Why couldn't I just have asked her about it? She would have told me. Right? Fitz thought. 

Alden appeared to be thinking hard. Then he said, “Here’s the thing, one way or the other you broke the rules of Telepathy, so, we can either tell the Council, or let this. . .incident slide, it’s up to Sophie.”

So Fitz slid out his imparter, and walked into the hall to talk to Sophie.

“Already hailing me? You were just at my house.”

“I know. But I need to talk to you about something.” Fitz said 

“You know Grady is starting to call you That Boy know” Sophie laughed 

“I know” fitz sad again

 “But, here’s the thing,” Fitz says, “you have a decision to make. You have the choice to turn me into the Council, or. . .keep it a secret.”

“Look. I actually broke the rules myself. I snuck into Mr. Forkles mind and saw it. We might get banished… Again. Well you might not but i will. So let’s just keep it a secret” Sophie 

“I don’t think so. Forkle can’t tell the Council without giving away that he knows your parents.”

“And that he’s part of the Black Swan. So it works out every way” 

“Thanks Sophie, I’ll let you go now.” 

“Did you know that it’s Keefe’s Birthday?” Sophie asked before he ended the call.

“Yeah, Mom’s planning a surprise party.”

“Really? That’s super sweet”

“Yeah, but you’ll have to get him to come over. Mom decided to hail every one today.”

“I’ll get him over. When is it?”

“This evening, all our friends are coming over, with their parents. The Collective is invited too.”  

“Our parents? That means we can't act like ourselves!” Sophie jokes

“Mom doesn’t want us busting the Neverseen on Keefe’s birthday.

“Is that why she's having a party?”

“Probably not,” he said, “but you never know with Mom.”   

“Ok I’ll get him over. Don’t worry about it.”

And with that they hung up. 

Keefe went to Sophie's house at around 4:45. And she said that the Collective was meeting at Everglen because  they were going to search the property with all of us.

Keefe knew it was a half lie. He could FEEL it. And he meant that literally.

When they got to Everglen his feelings were confirmed.  There were balloons attached to lamp posts in the yard and everything was so decorative,

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Everyone shouted at Keefe.

But he was left speechless.

“Wow,” was all he could say.

Linh, Tam, Dex, Biana, Fitz, Marella, Wylie, and all their parents were there. 

Wylie brought his girlfriend, Savia.

After the presents had been opened. Prank supplies from Fitz, hair balding elixirs from Dex, and a mini toy gullon from the twins. Whylie bought him a gift card to atlantis prank shop. And from Sophie a note that said meet me outside.

He looked around and she was nowhere to be found. 

He looked around and Fitz nodded tilting his head so that Keefe could see out what door she went.

Keefe mouthed thank you and tiptoed out the door and found Sophie waiting for him in the hallway,  she took his hand not saying anything and pulled him gently into the next room.That had a picture of the entire Vacer family in it, he looked around and realized. That this was the reception hall. 

“The reception hall.”  Keefe said

“Yeah,” Said Sophie “From what I know about elves. . .um. . .matches come here and dance.”

“Yeah,” said Keefe he lead her to the middle of the room and took her hand a music sounded and it felt older than time itself 

He put his hand on her waist and took her other hand in his and they danced slowly in a circle no steps, no rules, just him, her and the music. 

“Happy birthday” she whispered when they were done with the dance.

“I have something for you” she whispered  and pulled out of the back of her cape a small box and handed it to him, inside were two small rings about the same size as the Cognate ones, just a little smaller, Sophie picked one that had her initials on them S.E.F. and slipped it on his pinkie finger he stroked her cheek gently and whispered a 

“Thank you.” 

Before he took the other ring out of the box and slipped it on her finger and then for the second time today they were kissing. She was on tiptoe her arms wrapped around his neck ad had one arm wrapped around her and another in her soft blonde hair and he felt like they could stand there for eternity but then...

They heard clapping near the entrance of the room. A big applause. That made it SOooooooooooooo awkward.  

 All the parents, the collective, and their friends were standing there clapping. Even Fitz, and to Keefe’s surprise, he was smiling.

“I got you two both a gift.” Says Fitz. He crosses the room and hands them a box. Sophie takes it, opens it, and inside. . .

“Oh, Fitz. . .” 

“Dude, how?”

“Dad promised them a tour if they got them done today.”

Sophie smiled. Alden had really promised a tour of Everglen for something as unimportant as crush cuffs?

They were  and had Sophie Foster + Keefe Sencen written on them.

 Sophie Foster + Keefe Sencen

“That’s totally awesome, dude.” Said Keefe.

Bianna looked at Tam shyly and he smiled.

“I guess this would be the best time to tell everyone,” Tam said “ Bianna and I, are dating.”

Lhin started bouncing up and down and Dex grabbed her hand bouncing as well. 

“Dex and I are to!” squealed Lhin 

Tam glared at Dex 

He pointed at him accusingly and hissed, “You and I are soooo talking later.”

RIP them or ship them?

That put  a worried look on Dex’s face. And that made Linh laugh.

“I have never had to deal with this!” Tam grumbled. “A boyfriend! You are way to young Linh!”

“You have a girlfriend, and you’re the same age as me.” Linh pointed out.

“Oh, Tam, you and I are also having a conversation.” Fitz informed him.

Prentice smiled vaguely, “This conversation is getting off track.”

“Tell me about it” Tam said, “What were we talking about again?”

Prentice snapped his fingers. Slow music filled the hall. Keefe and Sophie danced, as did Tam and Biana, Dex and Linh. Wylie offered his arm to a girl Fitz had never seen before. 

“My name is Sevina Frant.” She introduced herself. Then they headed to the center of the dance floor.

“Hey I’ve seen you at Foxfire before.” Keefe said           

“Yes I know. Do you remember the girl you dumped all that Gulon gas on?” She asked him.

Keefe thought for a moment, “Yeah! That was a great prank! Man, that’s something I will never forget!”

Sevina’s face darkens, “I was that girl”

Keefe shrank back, “I want to forget that day,” he whispers 

Fitz hung back, having no one to dance with. Marella joins him.

“Hey,” he says.

“Hey.” She says 

There’s an awkward silence between them.

“Wanna dance?” Fitz asks 

Smooth. Fitz and Marealla think at the same time.

But Marella smiles,”I’d love to.” 

Fitz smiles and leads her onto the dance floor. It was kinda awkward at first because he always imagined doing this with Sophie. And the last time he was in this room this close to someone was with Sophie. But he got used to it. 

Marella told him, “A few years ago I would be screaming at everyone who would listen ‘FITZ VACKER ASKED ME TO DANCE!’”

When Keefe and Sophie got a look at him they both smiled. And Keefe dipped Sophie and heard her back pop. They both laughed. 

They danced for a few hours, and Sophie asked Alden if she could change the music.

“There's no more music than this.” He said.

“No. Where’s the thingy that plays it?”Sophie asks

He points to a little panel on the wall. Sophie opens it and calls Dex over. 

With the help of enhancing and great ideas and a lot of wires. They got a cable that could hook up onto Sophie's Ipod.  she scrolled on her millions of playlists. 

“Hmm. how about this one?” then She turned to the group, “Wanna see what music is like with the humans?” 

Keefe was the first to say yes. And Sevina was the last to say yes.

She turned on shuffle and they all jumped as the Macarena started playing.

Sophie stepped into the middle of the room and showed them how to dance to it. 

They danced to the human songs until the party ended.

 CHAPTER 7

Biana

“Good morning, honey!” Della greeted her.

“Hey, mom” She yawned   

“Sup?” Asked Fitz. 

“Where did you learn that word?” Biana asked

“Sophie asked me what was up yesterday, and she asked me like that.” He grinned.

“Did Sophie…… never mind.” Biana fell silent. She was happy here brother was getting over the fact that he and Sophie would never be a thing.

 “Did Sophie what?” Alden asked. “And I ask that with a little more authority, as your father.”  

“Ummm………. Nothing. It doesn't matter! Forget I said anything!” Biana shoved a spoonful of whatever was for breakfast into her mouth to make herself shut up.

Alden raised an eyebrow, “Now you have to tell me. That’s an order.”  

“But DAD!” Biana whined 

“No buts. Tell me.” 

“Well I was going to say, ‘Did Sophie say anything else?’ but that would have been rude.”

“Thank you. Everything works so much nicer when we cooperate.” 

They all laugh.

“I had the weirdest dream that we got a pet!” Biana said

“Nice try. But no” Alden said 

“So, Fitz, I saw you and that young lady. . .oh, what’s her name?” Della snapped her fingers. “Oh, Marella.” She raised an eyebrow. “Anything you want to tell me, either of you?”

Fitz stares at his bowl,

“No mom.” 

“Biana?” Her dad asks. 

“I have no idea what’s going on with any of them” Biana says

“I meant with you.” He says.

“Oh, well, yeah, but….. Yeah” Biana stumbles

“Enlighten me. I’m afraid old men don’t understand well, yeah, but … yeah.”

“You’re not old dad you’re only a few hundred years old.” Fitz and Biana say at the same time

“Thank you, but I’m still waiting for an explanation.”

Biana sighed, “What do you want to know?”

“Everything!” her mom shouted.

Biana giggles. “Fitz volunteers!”

“Thank you, Biana, for so graciously offering to go first.”

“So a friend and I like each other I kissed him, and then we danced last night. No biggie.”

“You kissed him?” Della asks. Biana claps her hands over her mouth

“Uuuuuh. . .maybe.” Fitz laughs so hard he falls out of his chair. Still rolling on the floor laughing he says,

“Naughty, naughty Biana. I just asked a friend to dance and she said yes.” Fitz says. 

Biana scowled at him, “It’s more like an acquaintance. You guys don't even know each other.”  She said, ” And technically he kissed me” 

“And did you pick up your match packet?” Della asked Biana.

“Noooo. . .”

“I know where we are going today” 

“Mooooooooooooooooooom!” She complained. Then she brightened. “You should pick up your list Fitz.” He groaned.

“I’m not old enough yet. And stop ordering me around.”
