Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away….

Nope wrong story, this is my story, and my name is Keefe, Keefe Sencen. And believe it or not I am a LOT cooler than any dumb jedi! I’m an elf. And this is a story about me and my friends.

CHAPTER 1

Dex

Dex woke up to a loud CRASH! He knew pretty well what happened. The triplets were causing trouble AGAIN. It was like there daily routine. “Rex, Bex, Lex get in here!” his mom yelled. He knew she was stressed to get them into their uniforms, and to school, but he couldn’t drag himself out of bed just yet.

“Dex, honey, you too!”

Dex groans and pulls him self out of the warm covers, “coming!”

He gets dressed into his school uniform that was all the same color. And goes to help his mom.

“Rex come here” he says when he sees how they are far from ready.

Rex goes over to him and Dex knew a way to get him to listen and do what he’s told. “Do you know what day it is?” Dex asks him

Rex shakes his head “No.” 

Dex leans in and whispers “It's mom's birthday,” which he knew was a lie but Rex didn’t, “you need to help her in as many ways as you can. And if you do. Then I can build you anything you want.” 

And before he knew it Rex had eaten his breakfast, cleaned his toys, and got ready for school. 

Juline looked at him and smiled “Thanks. Eat your breakfast” 

Foxfire was the only school in the Lost Cities. But it was really easy to find his friends. They always meet up a little tree near the back. 

When Dex got there Sophie was sitting next to Keefe ad not Fitz witch surprised him. He just sat down where ever. 

“What are you guys talking about?” dex asked

“Which ones better, me or Fitzy” keefe said, “in Foster’s point of view”

Sophie sighed, she wasn't looking at either of them, just staring off into the distance. 

“Well I can feel Fosters emotions right now and she’s leaning towards me. Sorry Fitz.” Keefe said when Sophie never said anything.

“Well it's just that I’m not ready to get a boyfriend right now and…yeah.” She stammers 

“yeah . Sophie’s smart. She doesn’t want an overprotective boyfriend who can’t stop worrying about her.” Biana explains for her.

Both Fitz and Keefe roll their eyes.

“Yeah that's Grady's job.” Keefe says

Its was time to go to their classes so they split to go to their lockers. 

“Is something wrong with you and Fitz” Dex asked Sophie when they were out of ear shot.

“What no. why would you think that?” Sophie asks. 

“It’s just that you seem like you don’t want to be around him.” Dex confesses. 

“What about you and Linh? I know you like her.” Sophie changed the subject.

Dex looked amazed. Did he really love her?

CHAPTER 2

Keefe

It felt great to have everyone back together again. And he wasn’t just saying that because Foster was falling for him but he was really glad to see everyone. He plopped down in a seat right next to Sophie at lunch. Fitz sat down on her other side. Biana sat across from her. Keefe wasn’t sure how to react to sitting so close to her, now that he suspected that she had a crush on him. He brushed some ash off her shoulder. (She’d been bottling fire in Elementalism.) She instinctively pulled back, and bashed into Fitz. They toppled off the bench. 

“I’m so, so, so sorry!” Sophie said, trying to pull herself together and ignore the stream of blood trailing down her arm. She saw the sharp table edge stained with red.

Keefe instantly sprung into action. “I’ll run ahead and get Elwin.” 

He dashed off towards Elwins office. Leaving her and Fitz and the floor. Fitz easily picked her up and put her on a seat. He inspected her deep wound. 

“Squeeze my hand. It’ll help.” She nodded, hesitated at first, and took ahold of Fitz’s hand. Their cognate rings connected. She took a deep breath, and leaned her head against Fitz’s chest.

  Keefe ran back in and when he saw them he stopped short. He drew in a breath, but didn’t say anything. Biana made a sympathetic sound when she saw the pain on his face. 

“Elwin says to go to his office before you bleed everywhere” She nodded, and Fitz helped her get up.

Later that day, Keefe hadn’t seen either of them, so he went in search before he left. he walked around the corner. And into the mentor’s cafeteria, deciding to grab a snack and leave to check Everglen. But when he walked in, his heart sank. Sophie and Fitz were standing there. . . kissing. And kissing, it only lasted a minute or two, but it felt like an eternity. They jumped apart when they realized they weren’t alone.

“Oh, Keefe.” Sophie sighed. “We were waiting for the right moment to tell you.” A tear trickled down her face. 

Keefe didn’t say anything but light leaped back to his home.After Keefe left, she started sobbing. She leaned into Fitz’s open and waiting arms.

“Oh, Fitz, I feel so bad.”

Once home, Keefe ran around breaking things, with a flash Sophie appeared. He quickly dried his eyes.

    

“What do you want?” 

She ran over and hugged him. She smelled like Panakes. He wiped the tears trickling down her cheeks off. His thumb rested on her jaw.

“Fitz and I broke it off. . .” He jerked back. Then she pulled him back. She just hugged him for a while. 

Sophie was heart broken. He sounded like that in one of the memories he showed her. About after he went to her funeral. 

Keefe never felt so alone and cold in his life ever. Until today.  The day he never thought would come. 

All his life he thought Sophie would end up with him. 

He eventually pulled back a little. She and Fitz had broken up . . that meant she was single. He gently pulled her chin up to face him. 

He was uncertain of his decision, since she had a boyfriend a few hours ago, but he traced his thumb over Her lips, bent down, and kissed her long and deep.

 She traced her fingers through  his hair, and his whole scalp tingled, in the best kind of way.    

             

So I can’t believe it. Does this mean sophie loves me? Or she is just trying to make me feel better by playing a nasty trick? Keefe thought.

“Keefe. I know that what you just saw between me and fitz was really messed up. . ,” Sophie hesitated, then started crying “ I knew I wasn’t right for fitz. and I had no idea how much I really cared about you. And I was selfish and didn’t tell you anything. Please forgive me”

Keefe hugged her tight, “the day I met you was like any other day, foster, the moment I saw you wandering those halls i knew you were the one for me. And every day I thought ‘girls like guys that make them laugh so if i make her laugh then she’ll fall in love with me’ but really it was whenever you laughed I fell deeper in love, you’re so beautiful. Exquisite, and the only thing that helps me get through my life is the thought of spending it with you.” 

After they talked for a few hours about their true feelings for each other and sorted everything out Sophie said it was time to go back to Havenfield. She kissed him good-bye and leaped away.

And all Keefe dreamed about that night was the thought of him and Sophie.

Chapter 3

Linh

 Linh started her day by feeding her murcat, Yevna. She thought about Dex, but tried to divert her mind. Why would he like her? She was originally banished, not to mention a TWIN! So she sniffed, and got ready for school. It felt really strange knowing someone liked her and she would see him every day. But the question was did she like him?  

At school the group was very disorganized.  First of all Fitz seem very unhappy about something, Biana was very sleep deprived, Sophie and Keefe kept smiling about whatever and Dex well he seemed to not be paying attention to anything.

“What’s going on with Fitz and Biana?” Linh asked Dex. 

“Well I’m not really sure. But the question is what’s up with Keefe and Sophie?” Dex answered. 

Linh sighed and feeling bold asked “What’s going on with all of you?” And immediately regretted it.

Everyone looked at her. And started speaking at once.

“Okay… STOP!” Linh yelled, “Biana you first.”

“I think Fitz needs to start.”

“Okay Fitz you start”

He huffed “Well let’s just say I don’t get along with some people’s judgement”

Sophie gasped and dried a tear.

And nobody expected that. “Please, Fitz, you were the one who broke it off.” Sophie tells him.

“Well I didn’t know you’d go kissing him after that! I thought you’d wait a little. I was going to call a group meeting in a few days. We would’ve talked it out then.”

There was an awkward silence after that.

“And Biana?” Linh asks 

“I'm going to tell yall a story. Once upon a time Fitz and Sophie were in love for about a week. Yesterday, they had a splat. And being a good sister I stayed up all night trying to make my brother feel better” Biana says looking at Sophie.

“And you? Dex?” he continues staring at his feet. 

Tam walks up, “Dude, you here?”

“Yeah, just, I think I got another special ability.” Dex bit his lip. 

Linh stares at him in shock.

Suddenly 6 gusts of wind race into his friends. But not him, he grins. 

“Pretty cool, huh?” Keefe, Fitz, Tam, Biana, and Sophie all glare as they try to straighten their clothes. Linh smiles instead and douses him with water. He makes an indigent sound, and dries himself off with a gust of hot wind.  

“I manifested last night. I don’t think I would have found out unless the triplets were throwing water  balloons at me.” Dex said, “Well lets just say they won't do that again.” 

Linh giggled and Dex looked up sheepishly. 

“Is something going on with you two?” Sophie asked

Dex and Linh look at each other.

Linh started blushing a little and so did Dex, “I have no idea.” Linh whispered.” 

Now Dex changed the subject, “And it looks like you and Keefe have something going on.” 

That made Keefe laugh; And Sophie blush, “Yup”

“Ok so we know what's going on. That helps” Tam said.  

“You got together?” Keefe nodded. A huge grin spread across Linh’s face.  “Good.” 

That day at lunch Dex and Linh sat next together. And every one was watching them carefully. 

Which that made Linh feel very uncomfortable in a way. Like the way you have to pretend nothing’s going on.

And at the end of the day Linh felt very accomplished in life.

CHAPTER 4

TAM

Tam stole a glance at Biana, his guilty pleasure. He had liked her the day that he had met her and  really wanted to work up the courage to ask her out.

But for now they were just friends. 

It was a cloudy day and it really looked like it was going to rain. But that didn't stop anyone from seeing the baby alicorns who were more like toddlers. 

“There so cute!” linh screeched. She couldn’t help it, but she loved any type of animal.

“What are their names again?” Dex asked  

“Wynn and Luna.” Lhin said. 

Dex nods.

“Can we go into the enclosure?” Biana asked

Sophie looked at Silveny, Is that ok? Sophie transmitted 

Silveny bounced around YES YES YES!

Sophie laughed and opened the gate. Silveny ran and greeted her, FLY FLY FLY?KEEFE KEEFE KEEFE!

“Hey Glitter Butt” Keefe said to Silveny, stroking her nose

Silveny was so excited to have company she tried to introduce her family to them but then realizes that only Sophie can hear her. TELL TELL TELL  the alicorn begs.

Sophie sighs, “Everyone, this is Silveny, Greyfell, Luna, and Wynn.”

Linh gives each one a hug. 

Silveny looks into Sophie's brown eyes, FLY? 

Maybe. Would greyfell be willing to give one of my friends a ride? Sophie asks.

Silveny looked Greyfell and a moment later she was bouncing around chanting 

FLY FLY FLY

Sophie's friends looked at Silveny’s  happy dance and Sophie smiled, “Anyone want to fly?” 

“No thanks.” Tam said immediately, remembering the last time he flew on a horse’s back. 

Biana nodded excitedly and climbed on to Greyfell’s back and Sophie got on Silvenys. And on the count of 3 they took off.

Tam looked up at the flying figures in the sky. Knowing that one of them was the girl he lo-liked! He didn't know if he LOVED her so LIKE was a safe word. 

They didn't come down for awhile and when they did both Biana and Sophie looked pale. 

“Wow. are you guys ok?” Keefe asked mostly Sophie. 

“Yeah.” They both said at the same time and that made them burst into giggles.

“I think its from lack of oxygen both from flying that high and from laughing.” Tam explained. 

When both of them caught their breath and were able to talk again they said someone else should go higher than they went to see if they can survive.

Keefe obviously took it as a dare and climbed onto Silveny’s back waiting for Tam to mount up. Tam looked around hoping for someone to tell him he didn’t have to. But  that never came so he sighed and climbed onto Greyfell’s broad twitching back.

 Biana looked up at Tam and smiled. He grinned back, feeling butterflies, not from getting up in the air, he did plenty of levitating.   

“Wow, first time I ever saw Bangs Boy smile” Keefe teased.

Keefe explained the rules ‘first person who passes out loses’

Silveny and Greyfell slowly climbed circles into the air. They went higher and higher. Tam couldn’t lose, but the air was getting thin, so he slowed his breathing, and used the breath holding skill Exillium had taught him. Keefe was trying to hide that he could barely breathe, but a few minutes later, he was gasping for breath. In another minute, he goes limp, and slips off Silveny’s back. Screams. Tam sighs.

“The idiot.” He mutters. He stands up on Greyfell’s back, (more screams) and jumps off. (Ultra screams, though Biana’s is the loudest, which makes him blush.) He propels him downward. Now he’s even with Keefe. He sling Keefe over his shoulder, and stops his descent, and levitates downward, he puts Keefe down, and Biana runs over to hug Tam. He turns tomato red. She giggles. Then, on utter impulse, he leans in, and kisses her; not caring that all his friends are there. Keefe cat-calls (still looking a little pail). Dex starts clapping, one by one they join in. 

Tam leans over and asks, “Tomorrow in Atlantis?” 

Biana glows pink and nods, smiling.

Chapter 5

Sophie

Sophie walked through Foxfire’s glittering halls, retracing the familiar path to the healing center, 

“Finally, I’ve been waiting here all day. But I knew you wouldn’t fail me, Foster.”

She groaned, Keefe had been waiting all day? But, she reminded herself she hadn’t asked him to.  

He followed her in, saying, “After your check-up, allow me to escort you to lunch, mademoiselle.”

“Mademoiselle?” She grinned. “Ooooooh! I want juicy details.” They both blushed. Her eyes went wide “I was teasing. Did they?” She inquired Sandor. 

He grumbled and nodded. “It’s getting annoying.”

Elwin walked in from his brewing area -smelling of feet- and said, “Two elves, two ogres, a goblin, a gnome, and a troll walk into my office. Is this a joke?”

“Nope,” says Sophie, “Just a gouged tongue.”

“How-”

“Linguistics. Lady Cadence was having me repeat a bunch of sentences but each sentence had at least three languages. And I had to say them really fast, and. . .I bit my tongue. So …… yeah” Sopie suddenly gets embarrassed. But she knew Elwin would not care. Considering how much they have been through. “It was disgusting too. It made a CRUNCH and then it started bleeding” Sophie added just to gross them out.

Elwin sighs and gets up from his chair and goes to his medicine cabinet and picked up two bottles with grayish greenish slime.

“Here. Drink these really fast” He said.

Sophie took them, opened the bottles and chugged them as fast as she could so no yucky taste would make her gag. But when she was done with the first she had to stop and make a face. 

“What is in this stuff?” she asked 

“Uhh. I’ll tell you later” Elwin says. And Sophie chugged the next.

“Ok tell me!” Keefe shouted.  He wanted to know more than his girlfriend did.

And Elwin didn't wait for Sophie to finish her last bottle, “Made out of Yeti barf, burnt hair and a lot of time” 

That made Sophie spit out the medicine,” WHAT?”

“That's really gross. Can I have some?!?!?!?!?!” Keefe didn't know what he was getting himself into. 

Elwin handed Sophie another bottle. “Drink this.” It was a pale lavender. 

She chugged it. But this one didn’t taste bad. 

“What was that?”

“The same concoction, only this time it only fills a quarter of the bottle. The rest is filled with unicorn vomit.”

Silveny. Sophie thought 

She gagged “Elwin!”

Keefe laughed giddily. “Man, why don’t I get hurt?”   

“Because you’re lucky.”

“But what if I don’t want to be lucky?”

“If you weren’t lucky, you wouldn’t be dating me.”   

“True that.” Keefe shrugged. 

They walked out of the healing center.

“You know Grady doesn't know about us.” Keefe says.

“Yeah I forgot about that.” Sophie thinks about it.

They head into the cafeteria. And sat at their table. It was weird because everyone was together. Like TOGETHER together. 

“What did you guys do today?” Keefe asked them.

“Learned nothing. Well I guess when I say nothing it really means SOMETHING to you guys but to me it’s nothing.”  Tam said poking at his green blob on his plate.

“Well what did you learn?”  Linh asked her twin. 

Tam shrugged, “The usual. How light is the best thing that ever came to us and we can’t live without it.” He makes a face.

“That's something. But not everything” 

There was a long silence.

“Do you guys ever wonder what the Neverseen is doing?” Tam whispers. 

And that brought awkward, thoughtful, and terrifying silence.

Sophie thought about it. I can use my spyball to see what they are doing. This could be big. We might actually have a chance to beat them.

“Well I could use my-” Spyball. She transmitted into everyone's head, “and we could see what they are doing.”

“Don't you need to ask permission to do stuff like that?” Dex asks. 

“Can we do this one thing on our own? I don't want to ask YOU-KNOW-WHO and not YOU-ALSO-KNOW-WHO to do this, it’s my you-know-what I can do what I want” Sophie answers.

“But I think YOU-KNOW-WHO made rules for that” Dex argues

That brings a smile to Sophie’s face, “And have I ever obeyed them?” She asked innocently.

The whole table burst into giggles and many people look there way. But they don’t care. 

But when they die down Dex glares at her.

“OKAY fine I’ll ask”Sophie says

So before she goes home that day she walks into Magnate Leto’s office.

As usual he was there sitting at his desk. He looks up from his work. 

“You want to take down the Neverseen. I know. I’m restless too. But we don’t have a plan.”       

“How did you know that?” Sophie asked 

“I have my ways” he answers 

She smiled. Always the mystery.

But she wanted to know something really bad, “So are you like my uncle?”

He pursed his lips. Then broke into a grin.

“No answers.”

That made Sophie mad. 

“Why not?” She yells, “Why can't you tell me? Why can't I know? Why can't I know my actual family?” She was screaming by then.

Magnate Leto stands up and says calmly, “Because that would-”

“I know!” Sophie interrupts, “I know. But why can’t I know at least my mom?” She whispers, “Or my dad? Or if I had any other family? I feel so alone and out of place here. Even though this is ‘where I belong’ it doesn't feel like it.” 

He puts a hand on her shoulder, “When you are older, I can tell you”

“Like how much older?” Sophie asks.

He stops to think about it, “ I’d say 17 but I would have to ask”

That makes Sophie jump. She was 14.

He is sure that she was reassured, but she snuck into his mind, and what she saw changed everything.  She stumbled back, and did the only thing she could; leaped home.

Edaline was working in the pastures, she ran over, “What’s wrong, Sophie?” 

But Sophie was to overcome with tears to say anything.

So Sophie transmitted. I know who my biological parents are. 

Edaline smiled, but Sophie could tell it was forced.

“So, will you live with them now?”

“NO! I can’t! I know who they are, and I can’t live with them!”

“Calm down, Sophie. Can you tell me who they are?”

She took a deep shaky breath. And said four words, “Lord Cassius and Juline.”

Edaline looks stunned. “You have five half siblings. And. . .you’re my niece. 

Sophie starts sobbing. And can’t stop. She doesn't want to be part of Lord Cassius’s or Juline’s family. She wanted. . .she didn't know what she wanted. Only that she didn't want this. Then a thought struck her.

Does that mean I’m dating my brother? She thought. She needed to tell Keefe.

“I don't want to be your niece! I want to be your daughter!” Sophie sobbed.

Edaline tried to calm her down, but nothing would stop the tears. Even as her tears began to slow she still made weeping noises.

Edaline lead her into the house and sat her on the couch. They just sat hugging each other. 

Grady walked in and looked at them like, ‘what's going on?’

He comes over to them and asks, “What happened?”

That made Sophie burst into tears again and that made Edaline start crying, and THAT made Grady even more worried. Edline pulls Grady into another room and tells him what happened. While they do that Sophie runs up to her room and grabs her imparter.

She did a number of bad things. So who would she contact first? Would she call Juline? Or Dex? Or Keefe? Lord Cassius? Mr. Forkle? The Council? 

She made up her mind.

“Whasup, Foster?”  Keefe asks her through the screen.

Sophie can't look him in the eye when she says, “Don't call me Foster.  I’m a Sencen”

Keefe looked a little confused, but after a minute he got it.

“Did the Forklenator tell you?” He asks.

“No” 

“Wait. You can't do that!”

“I know. But you think I care? Well guess what? I don't!”

Keefe makes hand motions to calm down, “Okay. I get it. But who’s your mom?”

“Juline.” 

Now it’s Keefe’s turn to explode. “NO way! Wait does that mean that you know Edaline knows?”

“Yeah I told her. And she’s telling Grady.”

“Wow so, if you are like my sister does that mean we can’t date?” Keefe asks. 

“That's why I called you.” Sophie said, “ I didn't know.”
